Akor Adams celebrates goal against Atletico Madrid

Nigerian forward Akor Adams reacted after Sevilla FC secured a 2-1 victory over Atlético Madrid in a tense La Liga clash, where he was also on the scoresheet, days after the club faced serious supporter unrest, Boldsports report.‎‎

Adams converted an early penalty to set the tone, helping Sevilla bounce back from a difficult week both on and off the pitch.‎‎

The striker has now scored eight league goals this season, ending a three-match drought with this effort. ‎He also featured in Sevilla’s previous outing, a narrow 1-0 loss to Real Oviedo, a result that left the team hovering just above the relegation zone. His goal against Atletico underlined his growing importance in a critical stage of the campaign.

‎‎Speaking after the match, Adams highlighted how the team turned adversity into motivation.‎‎

“All the energy of the club, the fans, and the players transformed into a positive atmosphere for this match. We gave 100% and achieved our objective, which was the three points.”

‎‎Sevilla had endured a turbulent period following their defeat to Real Oviedo. Reports confirmed that players were confronted by angry supporters at the airport, while tensions escalated further at the training ground, where access was briefly blocked before authorities intervened.‎‎

Despite that backdrop, Adams chose to focus on the positive support inside the stadium.‎‎

“The fans’ support has been incredible, it’s given us a lot of energy. We play for them and if we’re all like this, we’ll be happy every week.”

Sevilla made a fast start at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium, with Adams calmly slotting home from the penalty spot in the 10th minute.‎‎

He later explained the confidence behind the strike:‎‎

“I had practiced it in training. I had the confidence of all my teammates. Everyone played a good game, Manu and Agoumé in midfield, Castrín at the back, and everyone else. We all achieved our goal.”

‎‎Atletico responded before halftime through Javier Bonar, but Nemanja Gudelj restored Sevilla’s lead just before the break, a goal that ultimately proved decisive.‎‎

The encounter also featured a strong Nigerian presence. Ademola Lookman came on in the second half for Atletico Madrid, while Chidera Ejuke remained an unused substitute for Sevilla.

‎‎Adams led the line effectively throughout before making way in stoppage time, capping a performance that blended composure, strength, and tactical awareness.‎‎

With eight goals and four assists in 26 league appearances, Adams continues to play a decisive role as Sevilla fight to stabilize their season.‎‎
