Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Shehu Dikko, former sports minister Sunday Dare and veteran athletics coach Seigha Porbeni will receive Distinguished Fellowship awards at the maiden graduation ceremony of the International Sports Institute Educational Trust, Bold Sports reports.
The ceremony, scheduled to take place in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, will also feature the launch of the Anthology of Sports Business Management and Innovations, a collection of work produced by the institute’s pioneer students.
ISI said the Distinguished Fellow of the Institute awards would recognise sports administrators, academics, policymakers and media professionals who have contributed to sports development, governance and education.
Other honourees include the Director-General of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Ayo Omotayo; Ogun State Commissioner for Finance, Dapo Okubadejo; and former Ogun State House of Assembly member Adebowale Ojuri.

Former University of the West of Scotland vice-chancellor Craig Mahoney and ISI Advisory Board co-chairman Olawale Adekola will also be honoured.
Sports media personalities Larry Izamoje, Godwin Enakhena, Kunle Solaja and Kunle Oluwusi are among those selected for recognition following their contributions to sports reporting and advocacy in Nigeria.
The institute described its maiden graduation as an important step in the advancement of professional sports education in Nigeria and Africa.
A major highlight of the ceremony will be the launch of the graduating students’ capstone publication.
The anthology contains work produced by the institute’s pioneer students after completing courses in sports business management, sports psychopathology and coaching science.
According to ISI, the programmes were created to address skills and knowledge gaps within the sports industry and produce professionals capable of driving innovation, improved administration and commercial growth across Africa’s sports economy.
The institute also announced plans to introduce a Professional Doctor of Sports Business Management by Research programme.
The proposed programme will draw on the career experiences of sports industry leaders while developing sports scholars, policy experts and executives.
“The graduation is not just a ceremony. It is the birth of a new workforce for the sports economy,” ISI said.
“ISI remains committed to building capacity, producing research and partnering with government and the private sector to reposition sports as a tool for development, security and economic growth.”
