Super Falcons Group C opponents Malawi have named a 32-player provisional squad for the 2026 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), with their preparations for the tournament set to begin on Sunday at Mpira Village in Blantyre.
Head coach Lovemore Fazili has retained the core of the Scorchers side that has featured throughout the year while handing call-ups to Under-20 players Takondwa Chinyamvula and Fatima Lali. Vice-captain Temwa Chawinga also returns to the squad after missing the team’s recent matches.
Most of Malawi’s foreign-based players are expected to report at the start of the training camp, with Faith Chinzimu, Asimenye Simwaka and Temwa Chawinga scheduled to join the squad later.
The Scorchers will make their maiden appearance at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations and have been drawn in a difficult Group C alongside defending champions Nigeria, Zambia and Egypt.

Malawi will kick off their campaign against the Super Falcons on 28 July at Al Madina Stadium in Rabat before taking on Egypt on 1 August at Moulay Hassan Stadium. They will conclude their group-stage fixtures against regional rivals Zambia on 5 August, also at Al Madina Stadium.
The top two teams from each group, along with the two best third-placed teams, will qualify for the quarter-finals of the tournament, which will be held in Morocco from 26 July to 16 August.
Fazili’s provisional squad includes four goalkeepers, nine defenders, 12 midfielders and seven forwards, headlined by star sisters Temwa and Tabitha Chawinga.
