Jordan Nwora, Chima Moneke and Semi Ojeleye were instrumental as KK Crvena Zvezda secured a narrow 84-82 victory over Lyon-Villeurbanne in Round 5 of the EuroLeague on Tuesday night at the Astroballe in France.
Moneke led the Serbian side with a team-high 18 points and four rebounds, while Nwora added 17 points and three rebounds off the bench. Ojeleye also made a significant contribution, finishing with 15 points and six rebounds to help Crvena Zvezda secure the win.
The victory marked Crvena Zvezda’s third in five games this season, while Lyon-Villeurbanne suffered their third defeat of the campaign.
The result will serve as a major confidence boost for the Belgrade-based side, who have now won three consecutive EuroLeague games after opening their campaign with back-to-back defeats against Zalgiris and Hapoel Tel Aviv.
Crvena Zvezda will look to extend their winning streak when they host Paris Basketball at the Belgrade Arena on Friday in their sixth game of the campaign.
The Nigerian trio of Nwora, Moneke and Ojeleye, alongside fellow Nigerian Ebuka Izundu, who missed Tuesday’s encounter, are in their second season with the club. The quartet have established themselves as important members of the team since joining ahead of last season.

The Nigerians have also played key roles in Crvena Zvezda’s recent victories. Nwora scored 12 points against his former team, Anadolu Efes, while Moneke led the scoring with 18 points in another victory.
Nwora also delivered a game-high 20 points against Dubai Basketball last Thursday, underlining his growing influence in the Serbian side’s campaign.
