…Charles Bassey hails star guard Stephen Curry for his performance
Nigeria’s Charles Bassey continued his impressive run with the Golden State Warriors, recording a career-high 19 points off the bench as they edged the Phoenix Suns 116-113 at the Chase Center.
Bassey, who started in Sunday’s 124-112 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers, returned to the bench with Draymond Green and Stephen Curry back in the lineup.
Coming off the bench, the Nigerian centre delivered an impressive performance, scoring a career-high 19 points and grabbing eight rebounds in 23 minutes of action, finishing with a +10 plus-minus rating. He also made his presence felt defensively, particularly after starting centre Draymond Green was ejected from the game.

Stephen Curry led the Warriors to their fifth consecutive victory with a game-high 34 points, seven assists and six rebounds. Brandin Podziemski added 20 points, while Yaxel Lendeborg contributed 16 points, five rebounds and five assists. Georges Niang chipped in with 13 points.
For the Suns, Devin Booker led the scoring with 26 points, while Miles Bridges added 21. Dillon Brooks contributed 18 points, Oso Ighodaro scored 14 off the bench, and Jalen Green finished with 11 points.
Speaking after the game, Bassey praised NBA superstar Stephen Curry, explaining how playing alongside the two-time MVP makes the game easier for him.
“Playing with him (Curry) is fun, man. It’s fun because he gets you going and he gets you little free buckets here and there. Like you said, man, I got a couple of free buckets with the screen and roll with him tonight, and so, it’s just fun playing with him, man. It’s fun. I love it,” the 26-year-old Nigerian center said.
Bassey and the Warriors will look to extend their winning run when they welcome Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo’s Miami Heat to the Chase Center on Friday.
