Goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie, says the Super Falcons are unfazed by the threat posed by their group opponents at the forthcoming Paris 2024 Olympics insisting the nine-time African champions are mentally and physically prepared for the tournament.
The Falcons qualified for the Olympic women’s football tournament this summer for the first time since 2008 after edging South Africa in the African playoffs after a 1-0 aggregate win.
They have been drawn in Group C alongside Brazil, Spain, and Japan but will take confidence from their last performance at the 2023 Women’s World Cup according to Nnadozie.

“This (grouping) happened at the last World Cup where we were drawn with Canada, England, and Australia,” Nnadozie said during the Ladies In Sports event in Lagos on Tuesday.
“Nobody believed in us. They believed we were just coming to participate but we have this team that doesn’t care about what the world is saying.
“We are mentally and physically prepared, we have young, good, and talented players.
She believes the blend of young talent and experienced players featuring in the top European leagues will also boost the team’s chances of qualifying for the next round.
“The team is mixed with both old and young players who are experienced and playing in the top European leagues and other countries,” she said.
“I can’t say much because football is unpredictable. What we want to do is on our mind.
We are so ready, we will also go there and make the nation proud.
“What we did at the last World Cup wasn’t the end, we are going to continue, and going to the Olympics, we will try our best to qualify from the group stage.”
