Czech giants Sparta Prague have completed the permanent signing of highly rated Nigerian youngster Linus Zika from Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) club Sporting Lagos.
The 18-year-old winger, who can also operate as a striker, will initially join Sparta Prague’s reserve squad and resume training under the guidance of manager Luboš Loučka.
Sporting Lagos announced the move on their official X (formerly known as Twitter) page on Friday, confirming that Zika has completed a move to the Czech Republic side.
“We’re excited to announce that Linus Zika has completed a deal to join Czech Republic side, Sparta Prague on a permanent deal,” the club wrote.

“Zika came through the ranks at our academy, played first team football and has joined the 14-time Czech Republic League winners.”
Zika featured consistently for Sporting Lagos’ academy in The Creative Championship (TCC), with his performances helping him earn promotion to the first team ahead of the 2025/26 NNL season. He subsequently made 7 appearances in the NNL for the club as they achieved promotion to the NPFL.
The winger is already familiar with Sparta Prague, having spent time on trial with the club’s U-19 side last year. He played 30 minutes against African academy Right to Dream, impressing the club’s technical staff in the process.
His trial performance ultimately paved the way for Sparta Prague to make the move permanent, with the club hoping to develop the talented Nigerian into a future senior-team player.
Zika will link up with fellow Nigerian Emmanuel Uchenna at the Czech giants. The 22-year-old defender joined Sparta Prague from Baník Ostrava in January 2025 and has since made 38 appearances for the club.
The huge move represents another significant step in Zika’s development as he begins his European adventure with one of the Czech Republic’s most successful clubs.
