Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan says she is thriving without the burden of pressure after her impressive victory at the Paris Diamond League, insisting being injury-free again has given her renewed confidence as she looks ahead to the Prefontaine Classic.

Amusan produced a season’s best-equalling 12.28s to win the women’s 100m hurdles in Paris on Sunday, extending her impressive form this season.

Speaking after the race, the world record holder admitted the hot conditions were not to her liking but said she was determined to deliver regardless of the weather.

“I do not like the warm weather at all, but whatever the weather, I was going to come out here and kill it. The execution was alright.”

The Nigerian star said staying healthy has been one of the biggest positives of her season after injury setbacks in previous campaigns.

“I am just happy being injury free. The pressure does not get to me.”

Amusan also credited her support system for helping her remain composed in the biggest races.

“I have grace, which is the very strong system around me and that finish line. So, I am never worried about pressure on the night.”

The 100m hurdles world record holder admitted every race presents different challenges but said her mindset remains the same whenever she steps onto the track.

“My approach to the hurdles varies. Sometimes, you are thinking, ‘What has just happened?’ On other days, it is really sloppy and I still come out and run a fast time. I try to take a shot at every race.”

Amusan also confirmed that her next outing will be at the Prefontaine Classic, one of the marquee stops on the Diamond League circuit, although she is yet to finalise her schedule beyond the meeting.

“I’ll be competing at the Prefontaine Classic next, but I am yet to decide where to race after that.”

The Paris victory continued an encouraging resurgence for the Nigerian, who has looked increasingly sharp throughout the 2026 season. With her confidence growing and her fitness restored, Amusan will head to Eugene aiming to build further momentum as she prepares for the Commonwealth Games next month.
