Samuel Chukwueze has turned down the opportunity to join Turkish club Trabzonspor as the Nigeria international remains focused on continuing his career with AC Milan, according to sports journalist Ojora Babatunde.

The 27-year-old winger is determined to fight for his place at the Italian giants despite uncertainty surrounding his future following the conclusion of his loan spell at Fulham.

Chukwueze joined AC Milan in 2023 and spent two seasons with the Rossoneri before moving to Fulham on loan at the start of the 2025/26 campaign.

During his time in West London, the Nigerian featured in 25 matches across all competitions, registering three goals and four assists. His most productive spell came in late November and early December when he recorded assists against Sunderland and Tottenham before scoring twice against Manchester City and adding another assist in Fulham’s victory over Burnley.

His form, however, declined in 2026. After finding the net against Brighton on January 24, Chukwueze failed to register another goal or assist in his next 14 appearances, raising questions over whether Fulham would activate a permanent move.

The winger’s prospects at Craven Cottage were further complicated by the departure of head coach Marco Silva. The Portuguese manager, who has since taken charge of Benfica, was instrumental in giving Chukwueze regular opportunities, but the managerial change cast fresh doubt over his long term future at the Premier League club.

As a result, Chukwueze is expected to return to AC Milan ahead of the 2026/2027 season, where he could work under new head coach Ruben Amorim. The former Manchester United boss recently took over following the departure of Massimiliano Allegri.

Amid the uncertainty, Trabzonspor emerged as one of the clubs interested in signing the Nigerian international. The Turkish side, which already boasts fellow Nigerians Paul Onuachu and Chibuike Nwaiwu, were hoping to strengthen their attacking options after finishing third in the Super Lig with 69 points, eight behind champions Galatasaray.

Trabzonspor also ended the season on a high by lifting the Turkish Cup with a 2-1 victory over Konyaspor in the final, inspired by a brace from Onuachu.

Despite the club’s interest, Chukwueze has rejected the proposed move, preferring to remain at AC Milan as he awaits a decision on his role under Amorim.

Whether the Rossoneri keep the winger as part of their plans for the new campaign or sanction another loan move remains to be seen.
