The Super Eagles have touched down in Uyo, ready to face the Amavubi of Rwanda in their final 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.
The team returned to Nigeria after their 1-1 draw against Gernot Rohr’s Benin Republic on Thursday at the Félix Houphouët-Boigny Stadium in Abidjan.
Already qualified for the AFCON with a solid 11 points from five matches, including three wins and two draws, the Eagles can afford to rotate their squad. Interim coach Austin Eguavoen might opt to rest key players for the game.
Meanwhile, the Amavubi desperately need a win to salvage their campaign. After a late heartbreaker against Libya, they’ll be eager to capitalize on any opportunity against a potentially weakened Nigerian side. Torsten Spittler’s team will aim to exploit any gaps and secure a favorable result.
Although the game holds less weight, Eguavoen will be determined to conclude his interim stint with a win. He will also be hoping to achieve the double feat of qualifying the team for the AFCON without a single loss.
