Serie A giants AC Milan have reignited their pursuit of Nigerian striker Victor Boniface, making him a priority target as they look to secure his signature before the close of the summer transfer window, Bold Sports reports.
According to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Milan’s sporting director has resumed negotiations with Bayer Leverkusen after receiving the green light from Boniface’s camp, with the 24-year-old open to a move away from the Bundesliga side.
Discussions are ongoing between both clubs as Milan seek to reach an agreement before the window shuts.
Despite the presence of Mexican striker Santiago Giménez, new head coach Massimiliano Allegri has frequently deployed Rafael Leão as a false nine during preseason and in their Coppa Italia victory over Bari — a tactical approach that possibly underscores Milan’s desire for a different centre-forward ahead of the new campaign.

Boniface could find it easier to settle in Italy due to the presence of Super Eagles teammate Samuel Chukwueze, who was previously tipped to leave the San Siro but now looks set to stay with just over a week left in the transfer window.
At Leverkusen, indications suggest the club may be willing to sanction Boniface’s departure as new manager Erik ten Hag reportedly favours Patrik Schick as his first-choice striker, while youngster Christian Kofane has impressed and is viewed internally as a strong alternative.
Boniface’s situation became more apparent during Leverkusen’s 4-0 DFB-Pokal win over Sonnenhof Großaspach, where he remained an unused substitute, while Kofane came off the bench to score and win a penalty.
Should Milan fail to meet Leverkusen’s demands, Boniface could be handed more game time to prove his worth and stake a claim for a prominent role at the BayArena this season.
