Super Falcons forward Gift Monday has completed her move from Washington Spirit to Boston Legacy, signing a five-year contract that will keep her at the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) club until December 2030.
Boston Legacy officially announced the signing on Monday through a series of posts on their social media platforms, confirming that the 24-year-old Nigerian international will wear the number 22 shirt at her new club.
The deal follows Boston Legacy’s announcement on October 8 that they had reached an agreement with Washington Spirit for Monday’s transfer. The transaction is worth US$500,000 in transfer threshold funds, with Washington Spirit also securing a 20 per cent sell-on clause.
Monday joined Washington Spirit from Spanish club UD Tenerife in March 2025 and quickly established herself as a key attacking option for the American side.
She made her debut for the club on April 12, 2025, coming off the bench in a 2-0 victory over Racing Louisville FC. Seven days later, she registered her first NWSL start and scored the winning goal in a 1-0 victory over league leaders Orlando Pride.
The Nigerian forward continued to impress throughout the 2025 season, producing one of the standout performances of her career on September 28 when she scored a hat-trick within the opening 36 minutes of Washington Spirit’s emphatic 4-0 victory over Houston Dash.
Her remarkable display set a new NWSL record for the fastest hat-trick from kickoff, further highlighting her goalscoring ability and growing influence in the league.
Monday concluded her spell at Washington Spirit with 12 goals and three assists in 48 appearances across all competitions.

Before moving to Europe, Gift Monday developed her career in the Nigerian Women’s Football League (NWFL), representing COD United Amazons, FC Robo and Bayelsa Queens.
She enjoyed considerable success with Bayelsa Queens, helping the club win the 2021/22 NWFL title while also finishing the campaign as the league’s top scorer.
Her performances earned her a move to Spain in September 2022, when she joined Liga F side UD Tenerife. She subsequently moved to Washington Spirit in March 2025, taking the next step in her career in the United States.
Having made a strong impression during her time with Washington Spirit, Monday will now look to bring her goalscoring quality and attacking threat to Boston Legacy as she embarks on a new chapter in her NWSL career.
