Sporting Lagos recorded their third away win of the season with a thrilling 3-2 comeback victory over 10-man Plateau United at the New Jos Stadium on Sunday, extending their unbeaten run in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) to six games.
The Tech Boys, who lost both home and away to Plateau United during their debut NPFL season in 2024/25, have been in impressive form in recent weeks, going unbeaten in their last five league matches before Sunday’s encounter.
Sporting Lagos made a bright start and were rewarded in the 10th minute when Aliu Baba fired the visitors into the lead. However, Plateau United fought back, with Victor Dawa drawing the hosts level in the 35th minute before scoring his second goal just before half-time to give his side a 2-1 advantage at the break.

Sporting Lagos responded strongly after the restart, with Victor Samuel restoring parity eight minutes into the second half.
With the game seemingly heading towards a draw, the contest took another dramatic turn in the 80th minute when Plateau United’s Alex Otakho was sent off, leaving the hosts with 10 men.
Sporting Lagos capitalised on their numerical advantage just two minutes later, as Jacob Adeede produced a fine finish in the 82nd minute to complete the comeback and secure all three points for the visitors.
The victory marks Sporting Lagos’ third away win of the campaign, the most by any team in the NPFL this season. It also represents Plateau United’s first home defeat of the campaign, bringing an end to their run of four consecutive home victories.
Sporting Lagos will not be in action this weekend, as their fixture against defending champions [opponent’s name] has been postponed.
