Akor Adams netted the winning goal as Venezia claimed a stunning 1-0 victory over Napoli in their Serie A encounter at the Stadio Pier Luigi Penzo on Saturday.
The Super Eagles striker scored his second league goal of the season to hand the hosts the lead, which they defended resolutely to secure their first Serie A victory of the 2026/27 campaign.
Napoli entered the encounter as favourites but struggled to create clear-cut chances in the first half despite enjoying the majority of possession. The hosts recorded the only shot on target before the break, with Adams firing an effort on the turn straight at goalkeeper Alex Meret.
However, the game took a different turn after the restart as Adams broke the deadlock in the 49th minute. The striker latched onto a long ball from Simon Sohm, shrugged off Amir Rrahmani and unleashed a powerful shot that took a deflection off the defender before beating Meret.
