Victor Boniface’s return to action has lifted spirits at Werder Bremen, with teammate Felix Agu expressing strong confidence in the striker’s ability despite his long spell on the sidelines.
Boniface has endured a difficult campaign after suffering a serious knee injury that required surgery in January, a setback that raised fears he could miss the remainder of the season. However, the Nigerian forward has now resumed training, with the club easing him back into the squad.
His return comes at an important time for Bremen, who are pushing for consistency in the closing stages of the Bundesliga season.
Agu, speaking about his teammate’s comeback, highlighted both his excitement and the need for patience as Boniface works toward full fitness. He made it clear that while the striker may not yet be at peak condition, his quality remains unquestionable.

“I’m very happy to see him back here because I get along well with him. I think he still needs a little time to get back into his rhythm. But we all know his quality.
He may have only shown glimpses of it in matches, but you see it again and again in training. When he drops deep, turns, plays passes; with such timing, such vision! That’s simply an absolute quality!

He wasn’t a key player in Leverkusen’s championship-winning team for nothing. If Victor can even come close to that level, then he can help us. How much he’ll be able to help this season is the question. The important thing is that he gets back to the fitness level he needed to be able to help us on the pitch for a while.”
Boniface’s previous exploits with Bayer Leverkusen still underline his pedigree, and even a partial return to that level could provide a major boost for Bremen.
For now, the focus remains on building his fitness carefully; but optimism is growing that he can still play a role before the season concludes.
There had earlier been reports that the Nigeria striker was out for the rest of the season after the club confirmed that he was set to undergo knee surgery.
