Rafiu Durosinmi continued his impressive start to life in Belgium, scoring for the second consecutive game as Genk came from two goals down to defeat Westerlo 3-2 in their Belgian Pro League clash on Saturday.
The 23-year-old striker, who found the net on his Genk debut against Zulte Waregem, converted from the penalty spot to make it two goals in two appearances and help his side secure their first league victory of the 2026/27 season.
Westerlo made a blistering start to the encounter, taking a two-goal lead inside the opening 13 minutes. Dylan Ourega opened the scoring before Genk defender Matte Smets inadvertently turned the ball into his own net to put the visitors in a commanding position.
Genk, however, responded strongly and reduced the deficit in the 42nd minute when Durosinmi stepped up to take a penalty. The Nigerian forward made no mistake from the spot, giving his side a lifeline before Bryan Heynen completed the comeback just seconds later to make it 2-2 going into halftime.

Durosinmi was taken off in the 70th minute, with Aaron Bibout introduced in his place. The substitution would prove decisive as Bibout scored just nine minutes after coming on, completing Genk’s remarkable turnaround and securing all three points for the hosts.
The victory lifts Genk to eighth place in the Belgian Pro League standings with three points after they opened their campaign with a 2-1 defeat. Genk will now look to build on their first victory of the season when they travel to face Royal Antwerp on Saturday, August 22.
For Durosinmi, the early signs are encouraging. After scoring in each of his first two league appearances, the Super Eagles forward has quickly established himself as a key figure in Genk’s attack and will hope to maintain his goalscoring form as the season progresses.
