Akor Adams enjoyed a dream competitive debut for Venezia, scoring twice and providing an assist as the Italian side came from behind to defeat Modena 3-2 in their Coppa Italia round of 64 clash on Saturday.
The Super Eagles forward, who recently completed his move from Sevilla to Venezia, wasted no time making an impact for his new club, playing a decisive role in their comeback victory and progression to the next round.
Modena made a bright start to the encounter and took the lead in the 17th minute through Giuseppe Ambrosino. Venezia responded nine minutes later, with Adams finding the top corner with a superb finish to make it 1-1 in the 26th minute.
Modena restored their advantage before the break as Ambrosino struck again in the 39th minute to complete his brace and put the visitors 2-1 ahead at halftime.

Venezia pushed for an equaliser after the restart but struggled to break through a disciplined Modena defence. Just when it appeared the visitors might hold on for victory, Adams stepped up once again.
The 26-year-old turned provider in the 83rd minute, setting up John Yeboah to finally beat the Modena goalkeeper and bring Venezia level at 2-2.
Adams was not finished, though. Just three minutes later, the Nigerian completed Venezia’s comeback in spectacular fashion, unleashing a powerful strike from outside the box that flew into the net to put the hosts ahead for the first time.
Akor Adams second goal ultimately proved decisive as Venezia held on for a 3-2 victory and secured their place in the Coppa Italia round of 32.
Venezia will now face Udinese in the next round, while Modena bow out despite putting up a strong fight.
Adams and his teammates will turn their attention to Serie A next, with Venezia set to begin their 2026/27 league campaign at home against Lecce on Sunday, August 23.
