Samuel Chukwueze continued his impressive pre-season form with a goal and two assists as AC Milan secured a 4-2 victory over Manchester United at the Tarczyński Arena on Saturday.

The Super Eagles winger delivered another influential performance as Milan recorded their first win in four pre-season matches, further strengthening his case for a prominent role under new head coach Ruben Amorim.

Manchester United made a fast start, taking the lead after just two minutes when Harry Maguire headed Bruno Fernandes’ corner beyond Lorenzo Torriani to make it 1-0.

However, Chukwueze restored parity in the 37th minute, finishing into an empty net after Gonçalo Ramos had unselfishly picked him out inside the box.

United regained their advantage six minutes after the restart when Patrick Dorgu capitalised on a costly defensive error from Milan to make it 2-1.

However, Chukwueze was at the centre of Milan’s response once again. The Nigerian provided the assist for Alphadjo Cissé to tap home from close range in the 58th minute, bringing the scores level at 2-2.

Milan then completed the turnaround in the 68th minute, with Chukwueze producing another moment of quality. The 27-year-old delivered a pinpoint cross into the box which Ramos converted with a header to put the Italian side 3-2 ahead.

Three minutes later, Ruben Loftus-Cheek extended Milan’s advantage after exchanging passes with Ramos before running through on goal and calmly finishing past Senne Lammens to seal a 4-2 victory.

United pushed forward in search of a response but were unable to find another goal, leaving Milan with a morale-boosting victory ahead of the new Serie A campaign.

The Rossoneri will open their 2026/27 Serie A season away to Torino on Sunday, August 23, while Manchester United begin their Premier League campaign against Hull City on Saturday, August 22.

For Chukwueze, the performance represents another encouraging step under Amorim. The Nigerian has featured in every pre-season match and appears to have earned the trust of the new Milan boss.

Operating from the right wing-back position, Chukwueze has showcased his attacking qualities while adapting to Amorim’s system. His contribution against United was particularly significant, with the former Fulham loanee the only outfield player to complete the full 90 minutes, as every other outfield player was substituted.

After a loan spell at Fulham last season, Chukwueze will now hope his strong pre-season form translates into regular starts when the competitive campaign begins.

With a goal, two assists and a full-match performance against his former coach’s side, the Super Eagles star has provided a strong indication that he could become an important attacking weapon for Milan this season.
