Super Eagles fullback Felix Agu made a decisive impact off the bench as Werder Bremen secured a crucial 1-0 victory over VfL Wolfsburg in their Bundesliga clash on Saturday, Bold Sports reports.
The 26-year-old was introduced in the second half and wasted little time in influencing the game, providing the assist for the only goal as Bremen claimed their third win in four matches, a run that has significantly boosted their fight against relegation.
Wolfsburg, desperate to end a nine-game winless streak, started brightly and dominated much of the first half. Despite creating the better chances, the hosts were unable to find a breakthrough, with both sides heading into the interval goalless.
The game continued that way in the second half, until Bremen head coach Daniel Thioune made a double substitution in the 61st minute, introducing Agu and Karim Coulibaly. The changes proved pivotal.

Just seven minutes later, Bremen found the breakthrough. Agu delivered a clever pass into the box, picking out Justin Njinmah, who controlled before firing a left-footed shot into the bottom corner to give the visitors a 1-0 lead.
The solitary goal proved enough to separate the sides at full-time, lifting Bremen to 13th place on 28 points, four points clear of the relegation zone.

For Wolfsburg, the defeat extended their poor run to 10 games without a win, leaving them 17th on 21 points and firmly in relegation danger as the season enters its final stretch.
Bremen will look to build on their momentum when they host RB Leipzig on April 4, while Wolfsburg face a daunting trip to Bayer Leverkusen as they continue their battle for survival with time running out.
