Lazio legend Bruno Giordano has highlighted Fisayo Dele-Bashiru’s physical and attacking qualities while assessing the Super Eagles midfielder’s role at the Serie A club, Bold Sports reports.
Giordano’s comments come as Dele-Bashiru works his way back into Lazio’s plans. The Nigerian started the club’s Serie A opener against Bologna on August 24. He played 54 minutes before a thigh injury forced him off. He also featured for 71 minutes against Mantova in the Coppa Italia on August 16.
Giordano highlights Dele-Bashiru’s qualities
Speaking about Lazio’s squad, Giordano pointed to the midfielder’s ability to cause problems in individual battles.
“Dele-Bashiru? He’s a player who gives the impression of being dangerous. He’s undisciplined in the game, but he has physical and attacking skills. It’s unlikely because he’s a man-on-man duel, even if he still has a lot to learn tactically.”
The former Lazio player also identified tactical development as an area for improvement.
Dele-Bashiru joined Lazio from Hatayspor in 2024. He previously produced eight goals and five assists in 36 Turkish league appearances during his final season with the club.

Nigerian midfielder closes in on return
His progress this season suffered a setback against Bologna.
Medical examinations confirmed a muscle injury after he left the match. Initial reports expected him to miss around 15 to 20 days.
The injury also ruled him out of Nigeria’s September 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. He therefore missed the Super Eagles’ matches against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau.
However, his recovery has since moved forward.
Dele-Bashiru returned to group training at Lazio in late September. Reports on October 2 also indicate that he could feature in the club’s friendly against Juve Stabia. Lazio are preparing for their Serie A meeting with Monza on October 11.
His return gives Gennaro Gattuso another midfield option. Giordano’s assessment also highlights the qualities Lazio can expect from the Nigerian when fully fit.
For Dele-Bashiru, the next stage will be translating those physical and attacking attributes into greater tactical consistency.
