…Iwobi’s goal help keep Fulham’s European dreams alive

‎Alex Iwobi was once again decisive as Fulham edged Tottenham Hotspur 2–1 at Craven Cottage, boosting their push for a European place with a composed display in front of their home fans.

‎Marco Silva’s men wasted no time asserting themselves. Just seven minutes into the contest, Harry Wilson opened the scoring with a sharp volley after Ryan Sessegnon’s cross took a helpful deflection.

The early goal settled Fulham and piled pressure on a Spurs side still adjusting to life under Igor Tudor.

‎Wilson, enjoying one of his most productive Premier League campaigns, continued to torment the visitors with intelligent movement and crisp link-up play.

‎The second goal arrived four minutes after the half-hour mark, and it had Iwobi’s name written all over it.

A clever exchange of passes between Wilson and Iwobi carved open the Tottenham defence on the edge of the box. With work still to do, the Nigerian international kept his composure, side-footing the ball calmly beyond Guglielmo Vicario to make it 2–0.

‎It was Iwobi’s fourth league goal of the season and his second in consecutive games – timely contributions as Fulham continue their climb up the table.

‎Tottenham showed more urgency in the second half and were rewarded in the 66th minute. Substitute Mathys Tel did well down the left before combining with Archie Gray, whose cross found Richarlison at the back post.

The Brazilian rose above Calvin Bassey to head home and halve the deficit.

‎Despite late pressure from the visitors, Fulham remained disciplined defensively and managed the closing stages effectively to secure all three points.

The victory lifts Fulham to ninth on the Premier League table with 40 points, narrowing the gap to the European places to six points. It also marks nine points from their last three matches – a strong response to their recent defeat against Manchester City.

‎Next up for Silva’s side is a meeting with West Ham United, another opportunity to strengthen their credentials as genuine contenders for European football next season.

‎For now, the headlines belong to Iwobi – clinical, confident, and increasingly influential in Fulham’s ambitious campaign.
