Tochukwu Nnadi may not have played a single competitive minute for Olympique de Marseille yet, but he is already earning strong backing from head coach Habib Beye.

The Nigerian midfielder, who completed a €6 million move from Zulte Waregem during the winter transfer window, has been working behind the scenes and featured prominently during OM’s training camp in Marbella. His progress has clearly caught the attention of the Senegalese tactician.

Speaking ahead of Marseille’s clash with Lyon, Beye did not hide his admiration for the 22-year-old.

“He’s a very interesting player because he brings a lot of impact, he’s very quick,” Beye said.

The OM boss highlighted the midfielder’s physical presence and mobility as major strengths that could benefit the team.

“He’s an available player who can cover a lot of ground and is very impactful,” he continued.

Beye also pointed out that Nnadi offers more than just energy and intensity in midfield.

“He’s surprising because despite the intensity, he manages to maintain real control of the ball and can bring us the composure we need in the middle of the game.”

The former Senegal international revealed that he made it a priority to speak directly with the Nigerian upon taking charge.

“When I arrived, I went to see him and explained that I only had 24 hours to make my decisions in Brest,” Beye explained. “But this week in Marbella, like all the players, has been of very high quality.”

With Marseille preparing for a crucial encounter against Lyon, Nnadi could finally be in line for his debut. While Beye has yet to confirm his selection, his words suggest the Nigerian midfielder is firmly in his plans moving forward.
