Head coach Justin Madugu has made five changes to Nigeria’s starting lineup for Saturday’s crucial 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) Group C clash against Zambia.
The Super Falcons head into the encounter needing a victory to revive their campaign after suffering a shock 3-2 defeat to Malawi in their tournament opener. Zambia, meanwhile, will be aiming to build on their impressive 6-0 victory over Egypt.
Madugu has responded by making significant alterations to his side, with Shukurat Oladipo, Halimatu Ayinde, Chinwendu Ihezuo, Esther Okoronkwo and Folashade Ijamilusi all dropping to the bench.
Rofiat Imuran has been handed her WAFCON debut at left-back, while Michelle Alozie returns to her preferred right-back role. Tosin Demehin and Osinachi Ohale retain their places at the heart of the defence.

In midfield, Deborah Abiodun comes into the starting XI to partner Christy Ucheibe in a reshuffled engine room. Captain Rasheedat Ajibade and Jennifer Echegini also keep their places as Nigeria look to gain control in the middle of the pitch.
Up front, veteran striker Asisat Oshoala returns to lead the attack after featuring as a second-half substitute against Malawi. Uchenna Kanu, who came off the bench to score Nigeria’s second goal in the opening defeat, has also been rewarded with a place in the starting lineup.
The Group C encounter will be played at the Stade El Barid, with kick-off scheduled for 9 p.m. Nigerian time. A win would keep Nigeria’s hopes of reaching the knockout stage in their own hands while reviving their title defence.
