Terem Moffi has applauded the impact of the Nigeria Premier Football League players invited to the Nigeria national football team camp ahead of the 2026 Unity Cup in London.
Nigeria opened camp on Saturday with 19 players already involved in training sessions under head coach Eric Chelle. The Malian tactician invited seven NPFL players for the competition, selecting talents from Shooting Stars, Ikorodu City, Rivers United, and league champions Rangers International F.C..
Moffi enters camp as one of the senior figures in the squad with 19 international appearances. The forward also arrives after another demanding campaign in Europe, where he remained an important attacking option for his club and continued to strengthen his place within the national team setup. His experience is expected to play a major role with key forwards absent from the squad.
The striker believes the home-based players have adapted quickly to the intensity and expectations inside the Super Eagles environment.
”We’re proud to be here and happy to represent the country,” Moffi told journalist Austin Okon-Akpan. “We are looking forward to the upcoming sessions and the matches.

”from the boys back home (domestic league), top session from them. We could see their quality from the get go. This is exactly what the Super Eagles need; a healthy mix of foreign and home-based talent.
“We love it. There’s no pressure at all; we are just happy to be here, play football, enjoy ourselves, and win games.”
The current camp marks the second major integration of foreign-based and NPFL players since Chelle took charge of the national team. The coaching crew continues to evaluate combinations as preparations intensify for the tournament.
Nigeria begin their Unity Cup campaign against Zimbabwe national football team after both countries previously met during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying series. Those encounters ended in draws despite Nigeria entering as favourites.
Moffi, however, insists the squad remains focused only on securing victory this time around.
”It doesn’t make it a difficult game, and there are no hard feelings,” Moffi insisted. “We are just here to play another match against Zimbabwe, so we will try to win. And we will win.”
With Victor Osimhen and Akor Adams unavailable, Moffi is expected to lead Nigeria’s attack as the three-time African champions chase a strong opening result.
