Sevilla have confirmed that they have reached an agreement with Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho to mutually terminate his contract, the Spanish club announced on Monday.
The 28-year-old forward, who was under contract with the Andalusian side until June 30, 2026, is leaving after falling down the pecking order under head coach Matías Almeyda, who has opted for other attacking options this season.
Iheanacho joined Sevilla in 2024 following the expiration of his deal with Leicester City, making 11 appearances and scoring three goals during his time at the club.

In search of more playing time, the Nigerian striker moved to Championship side Middlesbrough on loan in January, where he featured in 15 matches, netting once and providing two assists.
After returning to Sevilla for preseason, Iheanacho failed to make the matchday squad for the club’s opening three La Liga fixtures, prompting both parties to agree that a mutual separation was the best solution.
The former Manchester City striker has been strongly linked with Scottish champions Celtic, who were pushing to secure his signature before Monday night’s 11pm transfer deadline.
However, with his contract now terminated, Celtic are no longer under pressure to rush the move and can finalise the deal at their own pace as they look to strengthen their attack following a solid start to the season but a disappointing exit from the Champions League after losing to Kairat Almaty in the qualifiers on penalties.
