Super Falcons star, Asisat Oshoala, is set to join Al Hilal from Bay FC in Saudi Arabia after completing her medical, Bold Sports reports.

The Super Falcons striker is close to sealing a move to the Saudi Women’s Premier League side, opening a new chapter in her remarkable career.

According to The Athletic, Oshoala arrived in Riyadh on Monday and passed her medical tests, with Bay FC and Al Hilal agreeing on a transfer fee. The deal is expected to be finalized before the Saudi transfer window closes, making her one of the most high-profile African stars in Saudi women’s football.

Other Nigerian Stars Lighting Up the Saudi League

Oshoala won’t be the only Nigerian making waves in Saudi Arabia’s top tier. She joins her compatriots who are already starring for leading clubs in the country. They include Ashleigh Plumptre and Francisca Ordega at Al-Ittihad, Chinonyerem Macleans at Al-Shabab and Rita Chikwelu at Al-Riyadh.

From Bay FC to Saudi Arabia

The move comes just a year after the six-time African Women’s Footballer of the Year joined Bay FC ahead of their debut season in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL).

She made 38 appearances for the American side, scoring eight goals. Bay FC impressed by reaching the playoffs in their inaugural season but have struggled in 2025, sitting 11th with just four wins from 17 matches. Oshoala has featured less often this season and was absent from the squad for Monday’s clash against Angel City, officially listed as an “excused absence.”

A glittering career across continents

Before her NWSL stint, Oshoala enjoyed a legendary spell at Barcelona, where she scored 107 goals in 149 appearances. She won five straight league titles and lifted two UEFA Women’s Champions League trophies.

Her career also includes stints at Arsenal, Liverpool, and Chinese side Dalian Quanjian. At international level, Oshoala has won the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations four times with Nigeria, including the 2024 edition.

What Al Hilal expect from Oshoala

The 30-year-old forward, who began her career at Robo and Rivers Angels in Nigeria, is regarded as one of Africa’s greatest players. Al Hilal, who finished sixth in the Saudi Women’s Premier League last season, will rely on Oshoala’s experience and firepower as they aim to push for honours in the fast-growing competition.
