Super Eagles striker Terem Moffi and teammate Jérémie Boga are making moves to terminate their contract with OGC Nice following a violent attack from supporters that has kept them sidelined for over a month, Bold Sports reports.
According to L’Équipe, both players have formally filed a complaint with the Professional Football League’s legal committee to begin the process of contract termination on the grounds that the club failed to guarantee their safety after fans ambushed the Nice team bus at the end of November.
The incident occurred on November 30, after Nice’s 3–1 defeat to Lorient, a result that extended the club’s poor run to six consecutive losses across all competitions. A section of Nice supporters reportedly confronted the squad, with Moffi and Boga bearing the brunt of the attack. The players allege they were subjected to verbal abuse, racist insults, spitting, and physical violence, including punches and kicks.

Since that night, Moffi has not returned to first-team training. Although his initial sick leave was expected to last about a week, it has been repeatedly extended, reflecting the psychological impact of the incident. Boga has followed a similar path, with both players unable to reintegrate into the squad.
The two players have also initiated legal proceedings against those alleged to be responsible for the violence. Their lawyers are now seeking the termination of their contracts on the grounds that Nice did not take sufficient measures to ensure their clients’ security. A hearing with the league’s judicial commission is scheduled for Thursday.
Reports suggest that the anger from supporters stemmed from off-field issues. Boga was allegedly targeted over ticket disputes involving friends from Marseille, while Moffi was criticised after being seen joking with former Lorient president Loïc Féry following the defeat.

On the pitch, Nice’s struggles have continued, managing just one win in six matches since the incident. Off it, the situation has escalated into a serious legal and institutional matter, with Moffi’s future at the club now in serious doubt
