Nigeria women’s cricket national team captain, Lucky Piety, has expressed confidence in her side’s ability to compete strongly and emerge victorious at the 5th Nigeria Invitational Tournament, set to take place at the TBS Cricket Oval in Lagos.
The five-nation tournament will see the Female Yellow-Greens face off against Ghana, Rwanda, and debutants South Africa and Zimbabwe U-19 women’s teams – both ranked among the top sides in women’s cricket.
The competition, scheduled to run from March 18 to 29, will have all participating teams battling for the prestigious newly christened Patricia Kambarami Trophy.
Speaking ahead of the tournament, Piety highlighted the team’s readiness and determination to make the most of home advantage.

“We’re not under any pressure because we’re playing at home,” she said on Thursday.
“We have two new teams, and they are among the strongest in the world. We’ve played them a couple of times, and we’re excited to face them again. This is a competition where we want to show our class.”
“Our ultimate goal is to win the tournament. We know it won’t be easy, but we’ll work hard and take it one game at a time.”
Meanwhile, South Africa U-19 captain, Mieke van Voorst, also expressed excitement about participating in the tournament, noting that it will serve as valuable preparation ahead of the 2027 ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup in Nepal and Bangladesh.

“We are very excited to be part of this competition. Playing in these conditions is something we’re not used to, but it’s a challenge we’re looking forward to,” she said.
“Obviously, we’re ready to play against any team. There’s strong competition here, and we’re excited for every game.”
