…German Onugkha eligible to represent Super Eagles

German Onugkha scored a brace, but it wasn’t enough to hand Kayserispor all three points as they were held to a 2-2 draw by hosts Fatih Karagümrük in a Turkish Super Lig clash on Friday, Bold Sports reports.

Sam Larsson opened the scoring for Karagümrük in the 16th minute from the penalty spot, but the visitors turned the game around in the second half thanks to two quick goals from Onugkha in the 68th and 74th minutes.

However, Kayserispor’s lead was short-lived as Atakan Cankaya equalised for the hosts in the 79th minute. The drama continued late on when Kayserispor’s Laszlo Benes was sent off in the 91st minute, forcing both sides to settle for a share of the spoils.

Despite dominating the attacking stats, Kayserispor couldn’t make its superiority count. The visitors registered eight shots on target out of ten attempts, while Karagümrük managed just three on target from seven, but made them count with better finishing.

Onugkha’s brace takes his tally to three goals in six league appearances this season. However, Kayserispor are still searching for their first win of the campaign after seven matches, with three losses and four draws so far.

It’s back-to-back scoring outings for the 29-year-old striker, who netted his first goal of the season in last weekend’s 3-1 defeat to Samsunspor.

Born in Moscow to a Russian mother and a Nigerian father, Onugkha has previously played for clubs such as Rubin Kazan, Krasnodar, and Danish side FC Copenhagen.
