Nigerian striker Rafiu Durosinmi is set to work under a new head coach at Pisa after the club decided to part ways with Alberto Gilardino, just hours after Saturday’s 3-1 defeat to Sassuolo, Bold Sports reports.
Pisa’s struggles this season have intensified in recent weeks, leaving the newly-promoted side deep in trouble. They currently sit 19th in the Serie A standings with 14 points, four points behind Lecce, who sit just outside the relegation zone in 17th.
The Nerazzurri’s campaign has been defined by their inability to turn draws into victories. Pisa have managed just one win all season and have recorded the most draws in the league with 11, a run that has kept them hovering around the bottom of the table.
Their last victory came back in November, when they edged Cremonese 1-0. Since then, Pisa have gone 12 matches without a win, losing seven of those games. Over the course of Gilardino’s tenure, the results never improved. Across 25 matches in charge, the Italian guided Pisa to just two wins.

In the early hours of Sunday, the club confirmed their decision to end Gilardino’s spell in charge, stating that a change was necessary as they fight to preserve their top-flight status.
“Pisa Sporting Club announces that it has communicated to Alberto Gilardino its painful personal and professional desire to change the technical leadership of the first team,” the club said in a statement.
“Our sincerest thanks go to Alberto and all the members of his staff for what they have been able to give to the Club, the team and the Nerazzurri fans in recent months.”
Pisa also confirmed a replacement would be named imminently, adding: “Pisa Sporting Club will announce the name of the new First Team Technical Manager in the next few hours.”
The coaching change comes at a time when Durosinmi is still settling into life in Italy after joining Pisa from Viktoria Plzen. The Nigerian striker has made three appearances so far, all from the bench, but has already had an impact.

Durosinmi made his debut against Atalanta, coming on to score a crucial late goal and secure a valuable point. He also provided an assist against Sassuolo, though it was not enough to prevent the disappointing defeat that ultimately proved to be Gilardino’s final match in charge.
With Pisa now turning to new leadership in their bid to avoid relegation, Durosinmi will be hoping the managerial switch offers fresh momentum and a bigger role as the club looks to revive its season.
