Ayo Dosunmu scored a career-high 34 points for the Chicago Bulls in their 127-98 victory over the Washington Wizards.
The Illinois-born guard of Nigerian descent has been one of the shining lights for the Bulls this season and was available to carry the team after the injury to Coby White and on a night All-Star DeMar DeRozan scored less than 15 points.

Aside from his season-high 34 points, the 24-year-old also added nine assists and three rebounds in 40 minutes on the court – he spent the most time on the court for either team.

His effort was consolidated by center Nikola Vivucic who had 29 points, 13 rebounds, and two assists. Alex Caruso had 16 points, five assists, and five rebounds while DeRozan settled for 13 points.
Reacting to his performance, Dosunmu says although he is excited about his performance, he is delighted the Bulls came up with the needed win. “It feels great anytime you can accomplish a career-high,” Dosunmu said. “But most importantly, we got the win.”The second-round pick in the 2021 NBA says he’s still got a lot more to improve on, “
A lot of room to grow,” Dosunmu said of his scoring. “Just being more of a scorer off the bounce. Being more of a scorer off the pick-and-roll. Probing a little bit more. That’s the exciting thing about my growth is I always say I have ways to get better. Getting to the free-throw line more. I think that’s a great way to create and become a better scorer.”
He also received accolades from veteran enter Nokola Vivucic, “Ayo was great,” Nikola Vučević said. “He’s been really good for us all season long. I think where he’s taken a huge step is just being a little more patient with his decision-making in pick-and-roll when he’s attacking.
“We all know he has the quickness and the speed. He beats a lot of people off the dribble. But at times, when the defense is set, especially when he’s the main handler like he was tonight for us with Coby (White) out, at times you’re going to have to take your time and make the reads. And I thought he was good with that tonight.”
