Nigerian forward Olakunle Olusegun ended his Russian Premier League scoring drought on Sunday. He netted in FC Rostov’s 2-0 victory over Lokomotiv Moscow at the Rostov Arena, Bold Sports reports.
The former Golden Eaglets forward had gone 11 league appearances without scoring. His previous Russian Premier League goal came on April 18 against Dynamo Moscow, when he played for Pari Nizhny Novgorod. Before Sunday’s match, he had registered two league assists for Rostov, against Rubin Kazan and Fakel Voronezh. His latest strike gave him his first league goal of the campaign.
Olusegun Strikes After Rostov’s Early Opener
Rostov made a bright start and took the lead in the 12th minute. Andrei Langovich found the net to put the hosts ahead.
Olusegun doubled their advantage just 12 minutes later. The Nigerian forward struck in the 24th minute to give his side a comfortable two-goal cushion.
The goal rewarded Rostov’s attacking start and strengthened their position in the contest. Lokomotiv failed to find a response before the final whistle.
Rostov maintained their advantage throughout the second half. The hosts secured all three points with a clean sheet.

Nigerian Forward Looks to Build Momentum
Olusegun will hope his goal sparks a more productive spell in front of goal. His previous league contributions this season had come through assists rather than goals.
The Nigerian also made an impact in the Russian Cup last April. He recorded two goal contributions when Rostov defeated Akron Tolyatti.
His latest performance provides a timely boost as the Russian Premier League campaign continues. The forward will aim to turn this breakthrough into a consistent run of goals.

Super Eagles Return Remains a Talking Point
His performances at club level could help him return to the national-team picture. However, he must continue delivering consistent performances to strengthen his case for selection.
Rostov will return to action on November 1. They travel to face Dynamo Makhachkala in their next Russian Premier League fixture.
Olusegun will hope to carry Sunday’s scoring momentum into that encounter as Rostov pursue another positive result.
