Israel Okon reaches 200m final as Esther Joseph, Ella Onojuvwevwo shine at NCAA SEC Indoors

Nigerians Israel Okon, Esther Joseph and Ella Onojuvwevwo delivered strong performances in the 200 meters heats at the SEC Indoor Championships in Texas, highlighted by a final qualification and a new personal best.

Okon advanced to the men’s 200m final after clocking 20.71 seconds to finish second in his heat. It marks his first time competing in a championship 200m event within the NCAA, making his progression to the final a significant milestone.

In the women’s 200m, Joseph ran 23.12 seconds to place second in her heat. She will return to the track for the 400 meters as she continues her campaign at the championships.

Onojuvwevwo was particularly impressive, running a new personal best of 23.02 seconds in her 200m heat. She narrowly missed out on top spot but will now turn her focus to her main event, the 400 meters, scheduled for tomorrow.

With the finals and longer sprint events still to come, all three athletes will be aiming to build on their momentum and secure even stronger finishes as the championships progress.
