Bundesliga side VFL Wolfsburg are exploring a deal to sign Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika before the end of the January transfer window, according to Sky Sports reporter Florian Plettenberg.
The 24-year-old defensive midfielder is currently under contract with Belgian giants Club Brugge until 2027, but Wolfsburg are checking the conditions required to complete a transfer immediately as they look to reinforce their squad ahead of the business end of the season.
However, Wolfsburg are not the only club monitoring the situation. Eintracht Frankfurt are also interested in the Nigerian international, with the midfielder reportedly on their shortlist for a summer move as they plan for additions in the middle of the park.

Club Brugge, on their part, are understood to be reluctant to lose the midfielder at this stage of the campaign. The Belgian side are still competing in the UEFA Champions League and remain firmly in their domestic title race, sitting just two points behind Belgian Pro League leaders Union St. Gilloise.
Onyedika has been a regular figure in Brugge’s setup this season, featuring in 26 matches across all competitions. He has contributed two goals and one assist, while also playing a key role in maintaining the team’s defensive stability.
His growing reputation has been reflected in previous transfer links. Last summer, he was linked with Premier League side West Ham, while reports a year ago suggested that several top European clubs were monitoring him, including Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Borussia Dortmund, Porto and AC Milan.

At international level, Onyedika played a part in Nigeria’s recent success, featuring in five matches at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) as the Super Eagles went on to claim the bronze medal.
With the January window nearing its conclusion, it remains unclear whether Club Brugge will entertain any offers this late, especially with the challenge of securing a suitable replacement for such an important player in a short period of time.
