Nigeria’s Super Eagles will go all out for victory when they face Benin Republic in Uyo on Tuesday evening, as head coach Eric Chelle rings the changes for their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier.

Akor Adams, who came off the bench to score the winner against Lesotho in Polokwane, will now make his first start for Nigeria. The Montpellier striker partners Victor Osimhen in attack, coming in for Tolu Arokodare as Nigeria aim for a final push to qualify for next year’s World Cup in USA, Canada and Mexico.

Chelle has named Stanley Nwabali in goal once again, with Benjamin Fredrick, Semi Ajayi, Calvin Bassey, and Zaidu Sanusi forming the defensive line. Ajayi and Sanusi come in for Captain William Troost-Ekong and Bruno Onyemachi respectively, who both drop to the bech.

Wilfred Ndidi anchors the midfield alongside Alex Iwobi, with Samuel Chukwueze and Moses Simon providing width from the flanks. Chukwueze replaces suspended Ademola Lookman.

Nigeria’s 2–1 victory over Lesotho breathed life back into their qualifying quest, but now they need a perfect performance and a favourable result from South Africa’s game against Rwanda to seal a World Cup slot.

Benin managed by former Nigeria boss Gernot Rohr arrive in Uyo knowing their fate, a draw is enough to make history and seal their first-ever World Cup appearance.
