Super Eagles forward Nathan Tella provided his second assist of the season as Bayer Leverkusen were held to a thrilling 3-3 draw against 10-man Werder Bremen in their second Bundesliga fixture of the campaign.
Leverkusen went into the match seeking their first three points of the season after a disappointing 2-1 home defeat to Hoffenheim in the opener.
Tella made an early impact, delivering a brilliant assist for Patrik Schick’s opener in the fifth minute after capitalizing on a loose ball from a poor Bremen pass.

The visitors doubled their advantage in the 35th minute through Malik Tillman, but Bremen pulled one back just before halftime when Niklas Schmidt converted a 44th-minute penalty.
The hosts’ hopes suffered a major blow in the 63rd minute when Niklas Stark received a second yellow card for tripping Christian Kofane inside the box. Schick converted the resulting penalty to restore Leverkusen’s two-goal cushion, putting them 3-1 ahead and seemingly on course for victory.
However, Bremen staged a dramatic comeback. Isaac Schmidt reduced the deficit to 3-2 in the 76th minute before 18-year-old Malian substitute Abdoul Karim Coulibaly stunned Leverkusen with a 94th-minute equalizer, denying Xabi Alonso’s men all three points.
Tella, who was booked in the 70th minute, was substituted in the 87th minute for Ibrahim Maza.
