Shooting Stars SC picked up their first point of the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League season after a 1-1 draw against Bendel Insurance at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin.

Both sides, desperate to register their first points of the campaign, started on the front foot, but it was the visitors who struck first.

Ismail Ayodele put Shooting Stars ahead in the fifth minute, but Insurance responded quickly, leveling the score in the 12th minute through Alex Oweilayefa.

The game remained fiercely contested, with both teams creating chances and defending resolutely to keep the scoreline unchanged until the final whistle.

The result marks the first point of the season for both NPFL traditional giants, who had suffered defeats in their opening fixtures.

Next up, the Oluyole Warriors will host southwestern rivals Ikorodu City in Ibadan, while Bendel Insurance travel to Kano to face newly promoted Barau FC.
