Kiki Iriafen’s double-double wasn’t enough as the Washington Mystics fell 91-81 to an A’Ja Wilson-inspired Las Vegas Aces at CareFirst Arena.

That was the 14th double-double of the Nigerian born player in her rookie season for Mystics.

After back-to-back losses to the Connecticut Sun, the Mystics were hoping to snap their two-game skid against the Aces, but Wilson ensured they suffered a third straight defeat.

Iriafen delivered a team-high 21 points, a career- and game-high 15 rebounds, and three assists, but her effort couldn’t carry the team over the line. Shakira Austin added 18 points, four rebounds, and three assists, while Rookie of the Year contender Sonia Citron chipped in 13 points and three assists.

Wilson led the way with a game-high 36 points and 13 rebounds. Dana Evans came off the bench to contribute 21 points, three rebounds, and three assists, while Jackie Young added 10 points, eight assists, and six rebounds.

With the victory, the Aces cemented their status as one of the WNBA’s hottest teams, extending their winning streak to 10 games.

The Mystics will look to bounce back from this disappointing defeat when they face the Nneka Ogwumike-led Seattle Storm.
