Italian Serie A champions Napoli have entered the race to sign Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman, challenging Inter Milan with a more lucrative wage package for the player, Bold Sports reports.

Inter had been leading the chase for the Atalanta winger, but negotiations between the two clubs have dragged on. The Nerazzurri are reportedly offering €40 million for the Nigeria international, while Atalanta are holding out for €50 million.

According to Corriere dello Sport, via SempreInter, Napoli manager Antonio Conte is a keen admirer of the Super Eagles star and is eager to bring him to Naples to bolster his squad ahead of the new season.

Napoli have submitted an official bid for the 26-year-old, which could reportedly exceed Inter’s current offer. In addition to the transfer bid, Napoli have proposed a higher salary, offering for the current African Footballer of the Year €5 million per year, surpassing Inter’s €4 million offer.

Napoli’s interest in Lookman intensified after their failed pursuit of Bologna’s Dan Ndoye, who now appears close to sealing a move to Nottingham Forest. Meanwhile, Inter remain hopeful of completing a deal for Lookman.
