Italian giants Inter Milan have officially submitted a €40m bid for Super Eagles winger, Ademola Lookman, but Atalanta are holding firm on their €50m valuation, setting up what could be a tense transfer standoff, Bold Sports reports.
According to SkySport Italy, the bid was made following a series of discussions between the clubs on Wednesday. Despite Inter’s formal offer, Atalanta remain unmoved, insisting that their asking price must be met for any deal to go through.
Lookman has been one of the hottest names in the market this summer. His performances have caught the eye of several European clubs, but it’s Inter who have made the first real move.
Sources indicate that while Inter are unwilling to increase their bid beyond €40m, they believe their agreement with Lookman on personal terms could help sway negotiations in their favour. The club is confident that the player’s desire to make the switch to San Siro could put pressure on Atalanta to reconsider their stance.

Meanwhile, former Inter striker Christian Vieri has thrown his support behind the move, calling Lookman a “game-changer” and urging the club to get the deal done. “He’s a player who can win matches on his own. Inter need someone like him,” Vieri said earlier today.
Lookman has seen his stock rise sharply since joining Atalanta from RB Leipzig. He scored 15 goals in Serie A last season and played a pivotal role in Atalanta’s run in the Champions League after helping them in their historic European triumph in the 2023/24, becoming the first player ever to score a hat-trick in a UEFA Europa League final.
With both clubs digging in over the €10m gap, all eyes are now on how far either side is willing to go to get the deal across the line.
