Super Eagles forward Nathan Tella has commended his team and head coach Xabi Alonso, for giving him the freedom to showcase his skills, following his opening goal in Bayer Leverkusen’s 4-1 triumph over Frankfurt on Saturday.
Nathan Tella marked his 10th league start of the season with his 10th goal for Bayer Leverkusen, scoring in the 26th minute to give his side a well-deserved lead. Leverkusen went on to thrash Frankfurt 4-1, with Tella’s goal setting the tone for the victory.
This season, Nathan Tella has developed a reputation for scoring crucial goals. He netted the winner against Bayern Munich in the DFB Pokal, scored Leverkusen’s January goal of the month in a 3-2 win over Borussia Dortmund, and found the back of the net in a 2-0 win against Sparta Prague to secure Champions League Round of 16 qualification.
After his latest big goal, Tella expressed his delight with the win and his own performance: “I want to play well in every game and I’ve got a team and a coach that allows me to express myself on the pitch. I was happy to more importantly get the win but to score is nice,” he said.

The vital win against Frankfurt keeps Bayer Leverkusen in the title hunt, as they aim to defend their Bundesliga crown after last season’s record-breaking victory. With 10 matches remaining, they trail Bayern Munich by eight points.
However, their focus will currently be on the Champions League Round of 16 where they face Bayern Munich on March 5 and 11. Having already knocked the German Powerhouse out of the DFB Pokal, NathanTella and his team will be eager to secure passage to the Champions League quarterfinals by defeating their rivals once more.
