Super Eagles captain, William Troost-Ekong, is set to join Saudi Pro League newcomers, Al Khalood. The Nigerian defender has agreed to a two-year deal with the club.

Troost-Ekong’s impressive performance at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, where he was named Most Valuable Player, attracted significant interest from Saudi Arabian clubs.

Renowned transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, has confirmed that both Al Khalood and Troost-Ekong have reached a personal agreement, and the clubs have settled on a transfer fee. “Excl: William Troost-Ekong has agreed to join Al Khalood in Saudi Arabia. PAOK and Al Khalood agreed on fee plus personal terms also in place,” the Italian journalist wrote on X.

“The 30-year-old Nigerian defender, set to move to Saudi Pro League.”

The move marks the end of Troost-Ekong’s successful stint at PAOK, where he was a key player. His contribution was evident in the Champions League qualifiers, including a decisive goal against Borac FC.

As Troost-Ekong prepares to undergo medicals, he was an unused substitute in PAOK’s recent 2-2 draw against Malmo FC.
