Fulham star Alex Iwobi believes his team deserved all three points against Everton. Despite the draw, he remains optimistic, saying they’ll “take the positives into their next league fixture against high-flying Brentford.”
Iwobi opened the scoring for Fulham in the 64th minute, but a stoppage-time equalizer from Everton’s substitute Beto in the 94th minute left both sides sharing the spoils at Goodison Park. The goal marked Iwobi’s first since his return, and though he kept his celebration subdued, he expressed disappointment at not securing the victory, admitting the draw felt like a loss.

“It’s always nice to get a goal, but the main thing, whether I score or not, is to get the three points,” Iwobi said. “It’s a bit of a bittersweet moment, but we have to learn from our mistakes. It happened before against West Ham. We’re kind of disappointed, but we’ll look at the positives to go into the Brentford game.”
He added, “It’s almost like a loss; everyone’s not too happy, but the manager says we should be proud of the performance and try not to stay down, so we’ll look at the positives and go again.”
Reflecting on his goal, Iwobi praised teammate Emile Smith Rowe for his assist, saying, “He has that ability to move with the ball and drive us up the pitch. When he found me, I made sure to stay composed inside the box. I know Jordan (Pickford) pretty well, so I’m delighted with the goal.”
Manager, Marco Silva also shared his disappointment with the result ruing their missed chances and saying his wards deserved more from Goodison Park.
“Really tough for us, the result,” Silva admitted. “Sometimes football is difficult to explain. From the first minute, we came here and took control of the game. We knew that Everton were, in terms of results at least, in a moment where they had more confidence, but I think we took all the confidence from them because of the way we played.
“We didn’t give a chance for them to press us the way Everton normally press at home, and we were patient enough to build our attacks in the right moments to create chances.
“First half, we created three or four clear chances to score. Unfortunately, we were not ruthless enough to start scoring, and the second half was almost the same story again.
“We took control of the game, playing in our offensive half most of the time and it was a great goal from us. Unfortunately, they score and, to be honest, we should defend our box better.
“Clearly we were the much better team and we deserved the three points.”
