Victor Boniface returned to Werder Bremen bench for the first time since December 7, 2025, as they played out a 1–1 draw against VfB Stuttgart in a Matchday 31 clash in the Bundesliga on Sunday.
Boniface last featured competitively on December 7 in a 3–2 defeat to Hamburger SV, where he sustained cartilage damage that required surgery. The injury sidelined him for 17 league matches and ruled him out of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
The Nigeria international was named among the substitutes on Sunday but remained unused throughout the encounter, despite manager Daniel Thioune making four changes.

The result leaves Bremen 12th on the table as they continue their push to steer clear of relegation.
Prior to his injury, Boniface made 11 appearances for Bremen, registering two assists but no goals. With three matches left in the campaign, he will be eager to return to action and rediscover his scoring touch.
Boniface joined Bremen on loan from Bayer Leverkusen at the start of the 2025/26 season in search of regular playing time, having fallen behind Patrik Schick and Christian Kofane in the pecking order.
