Spanish side Valencia made a late attempt to hijack Wilfred Ndidi’s move to Besiktas, but saw their bid rejected by Leicester City, according to transfer expert Ben Jacobs.
Besiktas had already struck a €9.5 million agreement with Leicester for the Nigerian midfielder, and talks are now at an advanced stage with only minor details left to finalise.
Ndidi has also given the green light to the move and is expected to sign a three-year contract with an option for an additional year, with the Turkish club prepared to fly him in via private jet for his medical.

Valencia’s bid, which reportedly came after the deal with Besiktas was well underway, failed to sway Leicester, who remain in agreement with the Turkish giants. The Spanish club had hoped to swoop in at the final moment, but their offer was turned down as negotiations between Leicester and Besiktas near completion.
Ndidi, 28, has been a major transfer target this summer following Leicester’s relegation to the Championship. The Super Eagles midfielder has made it clear he has no interest in playing in England’s second tier once again, opening the door for a move abroad.
A number of clubs had earlier shown interest in the former Genk man, including Bayer Leverkusen, Manchester United, Everton, Real Betis, Juventus, and several Saudi clubs. Besiktas emerged as front-runners after tabling the €9.5m offer, which was accepted by Leicester.
Despite Valencia’s late interest, Besiktas remain in pole position to complete the signing, and are confident of finalising the deal in the coming days.
