Super Eagles midfielder Tochukwu Nnadi is set to take a major step in his career as he closes in on a move to Ligue 1 side Marseille from Belgian outfit Zulte Waregem, Bold Sports reports.
According to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Marseille and Zulte Waregem have reached an agreement on a €6 million transfer fee, with the 22-year-old already in France to undergo medical tests. The deal is expected to be officially completed and announced in the coming hours.
Speaking upon his arrival in Marseille, Nnadi expressed his excitement and determination to make an impact at the French club.
“I’m happy to be here. It’s my first day in France. I’m here to play football, to fight for the team. This is my ambition here,” he told La Minute OM.
The move comes after a steady rise for the midfielder, who has continued to grow in profile both at club and international level. This season, Nnadi has made 19 appearances across all competitions for Zulte Waregem, contributing one assist as he remained an important part of the squad.
He initially joined the Belgian side in January 2024 and started out in the country’s second division, but quickly became influential as Waregem pushed for promotion. Nnadi played a key role in their return to the top flight, further establishing himself as one of the club’s standout performers.
His progress has also been recognised internationally. Nnadi was one of five new faces named by head coach Eric Chelle in the final Super Eagles squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, where Nigeria finished with a bronze medal. He gained valuable experience during the tournament, featuring in the third group game against Uganda.
Before his senior breakthrough, the midfielder was part of Nigeria’s U-20 squad at the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup, adding to his growing experience at major competitions.

Nnadi’s football journey began in Owerri with Campos FC, before he moved abroad in 2019 to train with Madenat Alamal Football Academy in Dubai. His development earned him a move to Bulgarian club Botev Plovdiv in August 2021, where he spent over two years before taking the next step into Belgian football with Zulte Waregem.
Now, with a €6m transfer to Marseille on the brink of completion, Nnadi appears ready for the biggest chapter of his career yet, a move that could see him test himself at the highest level in France and further strengthen his place in the Super Eagles setup.
