…places third behind Camacho-Quinn, Tia Jones
Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan improved on her season’s best, placing third in the women’s 100m hurdles at the Golden Spike in Ostrava on Tuesday.
Running head-to-head with Olympic Champion Jasmine Camacho-Quinn, the World Champion’s had a poor start, failing to recover enough to win the race.
Camacho-Quinn who has had a great season – winning all her races this season – powered home to claim victory in a meeting record time of 12.42secs ahead of 2018 world U20 champion Tia Jones who also ran a season’s best time of 12.44. Amusan ran a time of 12,47secs.
Speaking after the race, the Puerto Rican expressed her delight at coming tops.
“I’ll take it. A win is a win. It was cold out here,” Camacho-Quinn said.
“I have a lot of things to clean up. If we had the weather we had yesterday it might have been faster. I have trained and raced against Tia a lot, so I know how she is, once she gets going. At that point, I was just trying to keep it together before I crossed the line.”
Amusan and Camacho-Quinn are expected to go head-to-head again at the Lausanne Diamond League on Friday.
