Temitope Adeshina delivered a sensational performance to win the women’s high jump event at the Big 12 Indoor Championships in Texas, soaring to a clearance of 1.96m to secure her third consecutive conference indoor title.

The Texas Tech standout’s winning mark was just one centimetre shy of her own Nigerian national record and set a new Big 12 Indoor Championships meet record, eclipsing the previous mark of 1.93m set in 2009 by Akela Jones. In the process, Adeshina also equalled the facility record held by Vashti Cunningham.

Adeshina was dominant throughout the competition, clearing 1.96m (6-5) to seal gold before making strong attempts at the 2.00m mark, underlining her ambition and top form.

Sharie Enoe finished second with a clearance of 1.93m, while Annishka McDonald placed third after managing 1.84m.

The victory extends Adeshina’s remarkable run at the Big 12 Indoor Championships, where she has now claimed three straight titles, further cementing her status as one of the leading high jumpers in collegiate athletics.

With her latest performance, Adeshina continues to build momentum heading into the latter stages of the indoor season, having not only defended her crown but also rewritten the championship record books.
