Trabzonspor striker Paul Onuachu has credited his red-hot scoring form to his teammates after netting for the sixth consecutive game.

The Super Eagles forward opened the scoring in Trabzonspor’s 3–1 victory over Fatih Karagumruk, before compatriot Chibuike Nwaiwu struck twice in the second half to seal all three points.

Onuachu’s latest strike takes his tally to 18 goals in 21 league appearances this season, strengthening his push for the 2025/26 Golden Boot. He now leads the scoring chart by two goals ahead of closest challenger Eldor Shomurodov, who has 16 goals in 24 league outings for Istanbul Basaksehir.

Speaking after the match, the former Southampton striker insisted he is simply fulfilling his role and emphasized the importance of his teammates’ contributions.

“As a striker, you have to use your skills to help the team. That’s what I try to do. It’s impossible to score goals and help the team without the help and assists of my teammates,” Onuachu said.

“More than my goals, my teammates deserve credit. Some matches are tough. You have to be smart. Today was one of those matches.”

The victory moves Trabzonspor to within three points of second-placed Fenerbahce and four points behind leaders and defending champions Galatasaray, although both sides have a game in hand.
