The Super Eagles will lock horns with the Egyptian national team in a high-profile international friendly on December 14 at the Cairo International Stadium, the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) has confirmed.
The game forms part of both nations’ preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco and is expected to provide a stern test for both sides ahead of the continental showpiece.
According to the EFA, the friendly was arranged at the request of Egypt head coach Hossam Hassan, who is keen to measure his team’s progress against one of Africa’s football powerhouses.

The clash will also offer Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle an opportunity to assess his squad as he continues to fine-tune his tactics and player selections ahead of the tournament.
Egypt, seven-time AFCON champions, are also scheduled to feature in the UAE International Tournament in Dubai next month, where they will face Uzbekistan, Iran, and Cape Verde as part of their build-up to the continental competition.
Nigeria, meanwhile, will be involved in the CAF playoffs for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where they are set to meet Gabon in the semi-final stage for a chance to face either Cameroon or DR Congo in the final round of qualifiers.

Both sides will be looking to build momentum ahead of AFCON 2025, where Nigeria have been drawn in Group C alongside Uganda, Tunisia, and Tanzania, while Egypt will compete in Group B with South Africa, Angola, and Zimbabwe.
